Sep 11, Bell rated it it was ok. Not as much as Sharon Shinn’s Twelve Houses series This is a magical concept that can, to put it mildly, become a moral and ethical hornet’s nest. I thought the fire wizards were over the top with their power. Also, another thing that really annoyed me in this book is the fakey fantasy names. Commoners sacrifice their attributes to their Lords in return for money or protection.
